The Space Technology and Advanced Research Systems (STaARS-1) Research Facility has completed a year of operations onboard the International Space Station National Lab. The facility will return to Earth aboard the Dragon capsule on Saturday to receive modifications before being launched back to the space station later this year. The multipurpose STaARS-1 Research Facility enables a broad range of experiments onboard the ISS that examine how biological systems respond to microgravity—with applications in pharmaceutical development, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and biofuel production.
