Welcome to the ISS National Lab Request for Information
RFI No. CASIS 2015-3
Due Date: September 8, 2015
The ISS National Lab is pleased to release this Request For Information (RFI) to gather information from subject matter experts and entities with experience and/or research and development programs in tissue engineering or microphysiological systems related to tissues-on-a-chip, organs-on-chips, or 3D organotypic tissue constructs that recapitulate the microarchitecture and functions of living organs using human cells.
This RFI represents an opportunity to bring new tools to biology, medicine, pharmacology, physiology, and toxicology for research applications on the ISS National Lab to benefit human disease research, tissue engineering, organ bioengineering, and regenerative medicine on Earth. The ISS National Lab plans to develop a sponsored research program that will provide opportunities for research on the ISS National Lab seeking to use microphysiological systems in microgravity to create and/or interrogate 3D, in-vitro models for bone and cartilage, skeletal muscle, brain, gastrointestinal tract, lung, liver, microvasculature, skin, or other tissues.
This RFI seeks responses to identify the appropriate in-vitro models and platform technologies for fundamental discovery or translational research in microgravity where outcomes may be extrapolated to understanding whole organism response.
Please follow the steps below to indicate your interest in this project:
