The ISS National Lab is proud to announce its first sponsored payloads berthed with the International Space Station on Sunday, January 12. Orbital Sciences Corporation’s Cygnus capsule successfully berthed with the ISS, marking the completion of its first full ISS resupply mission.

Location: Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport’s Pad-0A, NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia
This launch marks a historic moment as a variety of investigations under the the ISS National Lab manifest are part of Orbital’s first full resupply mission to the orbiting laboratory.
Research on board Orbital’s Cygnus capsule included experiments from physical science, life sciences and education related payloads. This flight signifies the first major payloads that the National Lab brokered through its own outreach activities.
ARK-1 is the first milestone of a new paradigm for microgravity research. The ISS National Lab has unlocked the door of opportunity and is launching spaceflight research into the new age.
The patch was designed by Shepard Fairey, a Rhode Island School of Design graduate, who is best known for his work through OBEY and the Barack Obama “HOPE” campaign in 2008.
