The Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium (TASM) preserves Oklahoma’s aerospace heritage to inspire science-based learning through discovery. It opened in 1998 on the Spartan School of Aeronautics’ campus, and since then has grown into an exciting, vital part of the Tulsa community. In 2001, it moved to its own facility north of the Tulsa International Airport. In 2006, it opened the James E. Bertelsmeyer Planetarium. In 2013, it opened a new Discovery Center, featuring an MD-80 aircraft donated by American Airlines.
TASM provides unforgettable family entertainment and education through special events like the Tulsa Centennial Airshow, the National Air Tour, the TASM Air and Rocket Racing Show, Defender Days and many other fly-in events. More than half a million visitors have enjoyed TASM’s historical exhibits, hands-on science exhibits, computer flight simulator lab, and full-dome planetarium shows.
TASM was the first museum to acquire an ISS Virtual Tour Mobile Unit from CASIS. The unit at TASM is a tagged, tracked asset of CASIS on long-term loan. It is on display near the James E. Bertelsmeyer Planetarium.
