The Orbital ATK Cygnus vehicle is slated to launch its seventh cargo resupply mission (CRS-7) to the ISS carrying more than 40 ISS U.S. National Laboratory sponsored investigations.
One of the Investigation onboard the upcoming resupply mission to the ISS is a high-temperature furnace that can be used to study how microgravity affects the synthesis of semiconductor and scintillator crystals.
Designed by Lucasfilm, Ltd., the 2017 ISS National Lab mission patch features the Millennium Falcon, Death Star, and three popular droids from the Star Wars™ movie franchise.
The refurbished SUBSA facility is a perfect example of how NASA and the ISS National Lab are constantly working to evolve the capabilities of the ISS so the laboratory is not only a unique setting for inquiry, but a first-class learning facility.
